Sir George JOHNSTON (Baronet of Nova Scotia)

"Sir George Johnston of Caskieben (1595- ) received a charter under the great seal in 1615, as well as other charters in 1618 and 1628. When he was 23 years old, Sir George mortgaged all of his properties for a pittance, and when he could not repay the debt his property passed to Alexander Jaffray in 1633. He married Elizabeth Forbes of Tolquhom, and had three sons and two daughters. Sir George Johnston was made a Baronet of Nova Scotia in 1626. He also became Sheriff of Aberdeen in 1630. The first Baronet was succeeded by his eldest son, also named Sir George Johnston, who was the second Baronet."

"5313. Katherine Lundy, born Abt. 1573 in Lundie, Fife Scotland, Died July 29, 1616 in Kendal Scotland. She was the daughter of 10626. William Lundie and 10627. Christian Ruthven."

John also married (2) Katherine LUNDY of Fifie (2nd wife) - Lady of Caskieben, daughter of Sir William LUNDY and 
(Hon) Christian RUTHVEN (RUTHERVEN), on Oct 1597 in (marriage contract). "By their Contract Matrimonial, 1597, recorded in the Books of Council and Session 13 March 1616, John Johnston engaged that he "shall, God willing marry in faice of Halie Kirk and take to his lawful wyff the said Katherine Lundie betwixt this and the first day of January nixtocum, but forder delay fraud or guyll, as als the said Johne Johnstoune be the tennour heir of bindis (etc). 
 
Repeated Quote: "In Katherine Lundie's Marriage Contract, of October 1597, her mother is referred to as having been, at that date, deceased. Sir James Lundy, Knight, Sir Robert Fairlie of Braid, Knight; Patrick Monypenny of Pilrig,; James Lundie of Balcormie mill; and Umphra Lundie at Lundie mill, were the Curators, or Guardians, of Thomas Johnston, afterward of Craig, the eldest son born of the marriage between the then deceased John Johnston of that Ilk and 
his second spouse, umq. Katherine Lundy, daughter of the deceased Mr. William Lundy of that Ilk, mentioned in a decreet, or judgment, of the Lords of Council and Session, dated 13th March 1616."
