While our Scottish heritage is well documented it seems that we are a little more than just related to Scottish decedents. We are in fact the descendants of the Laid of the Johnston Clan! Research is on going, but so far the evidence is strong that the family name JOHNSON is directly tied to the Scottish clan JOHNSTON or JOHNSTONE. Sir William Johnston (b.1460) actually died in the Battle of Flodden Field. John JOHNSTON (b.1565) son, Sir George JOHNSTON would become the baronet of Nova Scotia in 1626 and sheriff of Aberdeen in 1630. The more I dig the more I find. One only wonders how deep this Scottish rabbit hole will go. I will try to update the JOHNSON family line as soon as possible!
